Tour the borough on two wheels to discover new neighborhoods and visit our branches. These tours are self-guided (with the exception of the Brompton Guided Branch Tour which offers a guided experience) and follow bike lanes wherever possible. Use the map or cue sheet to navigate, or feel free to create your own tour!

  • Brompton Guided Branch Tour – Free with adult registration

    Brompton Bicycle will be leading three guided tours at 10:00am, 1:00pm and 3:30pm. Space is limited to 20 participants on each guided ride and these will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis; to reserve a spot please select the option on our registration page. An opportunity to borrow a Brompton Bicycle on this tour is also available on the registration page but hurry, quantities are limited.

    The tour features a guided view of Brooklyn’s brownstone neighborhoods, scenic views of the iconic Manhattan skyline as well as moments riding through car-free parks, all while stopping at branches to have your passport stamped. Please note that riders registering for any of the Guided Branch Tour must be 16 years or older to participate. SPACE IS LIMITED TO 20 RIDERS PER SESSION SO REGISTER EARLY!

  • Brooklyn Waterfront Tour

    Unbeatable views abound on this 33-mile adventure. Explore Brooklyn's waterfront as you ride past Floyd Bennett Field, Brighton Beach and Coney Island’s Surf Avenue in South Brooklyn. Zip through Red Hook, then enjoy the city skyline and beautiful surroundings in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

  • Brownstone Brooklyn Tour

    This route will give you major house envy. Gaze at charming Brooklyn brownstones as you ride along the tree-lined streets of popular neighborhoods including Bedford-Stuyvesant, Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, and of course, Brooklyn Heights.

  • North Brooklyn Tour

    Find the nearest fixed-gear bike and tour the trendiest neighborhoods in town: Bushwick, Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Visit the restaurants, cafes and shops that have become destinations for residents and tourists alike.

  • Southeast Brooklyn Tour

    Journey to suburbia! You’ll wonder if you’re still in New York as you pedal through Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Bergen Beach and Marine Park. Start the day in Prospect Park, then cruise past Brooklyn College’s campus on your way back to Central Library.

  • Southwest Brooklyn Tour

    Here's the perfect balance of serene nature and bustling culture. This tour begins and ends with a ride through Prospect Park. In between, swing through the multicultural neighborhoods of Borough Park, Midwood, Bensonhurst and Bay Ridge.

  • Citi Bike® Tour

    Are you a Citi Bike member or would you like to give it a try? Explore BPL branches close to Citi Bike docks, and take advantage of a special docking station at Central library and any one of the 100's along the Citi Bike route. All participants age 16+ are eligible to receive a FREE Citi Bike 24-Hour Access Pass to use on the day of the event.

  • Prospect Park Family Tour

    Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is proud to partner with Prospect Park Alliance to present this car-free tour around Prospect Park's Park Drive from 3pm to 5pm on the occasion of the Park's 150th Anniversary! Families can get their Bike the Branches Passport stamped at the BPL Kidsmobile located at the Children's Corner and our pop-up tent on the 16th Street Lawn. Download your Prospect Park Family Tour scavenger hunt activity sheet to complete as you ride, run or walk!

    Enjoy fun, family-friendly programming throughout the day at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside, Zucker Natural Exploration Area and other areas in the Park. Show your Bike the Branches passport for free gifts, courtesy of Prospect Park Alliance, at Pop-Up Audubon at Long Meadow, near the Bandshell & Peninsula, Lefferts Historic House and the Carousel at the Children’s Corner. Recharge and refresh at Pony Express at the Carousel or Bluestone Café at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside.

    Children can ride their bikes on pathways, but adults must walk their bikes, and adults also need to follow the rules of the road on the Park Drive. View more information regarding biking rules in Prospect Park.
